They say, on a bad day, wear a red lipstick, pour some wine and get going. Well, for me wearing any shade of lipstick makes me want to kick butts and feel sexy. Its festive time, time to dress up, wear bling and feel all happy in between all ladoos and mithais. This blog post will not only tell you about some must have shades but will also help you to find out right shades for your skin tone and lips!
The Perfect trick to find out the most flattering lip shade for you is the one which is one or two shades darker than your natural lip colour. To test the right shade, apply lipstick or gloss to one lip, if that color is just a shade or two deeper than your bare lip, then you've found your shade. In most of the cases, the colour printed on the lipstick cover is always right. If you can't get the tester, of the shade of your choice, simply hold it to your lips and check the color out where natural light shines through.
If your lips are on the thinner side, opt for shades that are lighter to medium dark but not the ones which are rich dark. The only problem with rich dark shades is that it ends up showing off those thin lips with an outline. But if you really want a rich maroon colour then avoid matte based and opt for creamy shades or dark shade gloss in the same colour as it will give your thin lips the much needed plumpness.
So here is the most important insight. Alot of my friends, girl friends wrongly believe that they can't wear a timeless red lipstick. If your are apprehensive too then choose the red lip color in undertones. This means that pink, fair cheeked girls can opt for a cherry red while brown skin will look hot in deep reds.
My secret tip for red lipstick: I don't just apply a red shade, my secret is to create, a red lip stain. I apply a colorless balm first, vanilla balm from fab India and then I apply red lipstick with a lip brush. This results in a gorgeous sheen of red.
Miss Guilty Recommends: L'Oreal Infallible Le Rouge, Chambor women's Rouge Plump, Maybelline Infinitely Fuchsia, Maybelline Non Stop Red, Deborah Milano Atomic Red, Loreal Rebel Red lip gloss. inacase you want to inquire about a specific lip-shade from the photos then, drop a comment!
And hey, It's best not to match lips to your outfit. Till then, have a great festive season all you gorgeous people.
