#BodyPositive: Blogger Shagun Talks About Being All Skinny & Yet Loving Herself!

Second edition in our #BodyPositive campaign is from another fashion+ Lifestyle blogger- Shagun Tomar from Vogue and Vegan

#BodyPositive

It is at about the age of 15 something that a girl becomes conscious about how the society looks at her. Whether, she passes as pretty or ugly or whether she meets the so called beauty standards or not. And that´s roughly the age people started scoffing at me with statements such as- `OMG! You are so skinny!` and `Why don't you eat food; just look at you!´and much more.

These and similar tormenting comments from family friends, relatives, cheesy men and women have defined my days and nights till now. I will be only lying if I said that it never affected me. At times I would get all upset and complain to my mom and sisters. But they would always tell me that I was really lucky to be thin and that how pretty I look and that somewhere did shield my confidence. Gradually, I realized the importance of self love and also learnt how to politely answer anyone who mocked at me.

These were and are my etiquette that I never replied back and told these people how ugly they look or how short and stout they are or how flimsily they dressed-because I have always respected diversity. I understand the fact that not everyone can be perfect. I choose not to make fun of things that people don't get to choose such as size, looks and color. Evolving mentally embraces these thoughts and I so wish everyone around me becomes level-headed enough to love and respect others. And the most important thing in this process is that we accept ourselves for who we are, what size are we and what colour our skin wears. Through this campaign I want to convey to every girl to love herself and to love the fat or skinny girl next to her because beauty truly lies in imperfections! Lastly, I want to shout out and tell the entire world about how much I love my body and take great pride in it.

 xoxo
A skinny girl in love with her body.

Miss Guilty Notes: Thank you Shagun for telling us all that sizes don't matter, what matters is how you choose to accept your own-self and let everyone know that you are proud to be you. You truly are gorgeous in every way. The next time someone tells a plus size girl' to go eat a salad' or a skinny girl to 'go eat a sandwich' just tell that person to drink a warm glass of "shut the hell up." I am proud to present to you guys an all new real girls campaign, #BodyPositive. If you too, have a story to share or have struggled for acceptance or you have found your calling or you just want to be featured here then please drop a line on devina@guiltybytes.com or just drop a comment, I will get back to you!

#BodyPositive: Blogger Amanda Bhandari Talks About Self Love

It gives me immense happiness to begin the #BodyPositive campaign with a Fashion blogger (what I was waiting for) and Here I present to you guys- Amanda Bhandari from Stylecoquettes

#BodyPositive

As a kid people around would always tease me because of my broad built, yes according to the Indian standards I have real wide shoulders and since I am 5’8’’ I always felt like this "Big fat girl" compared to all my friends, honestly at times I felt like a dude and to top it all I had developed an ugly hunch. But then eventually as I grew old I realized that I need to embrace my body structure and roll with it, I have to say my parents were very supportive they taught me to be proud of my appearance and carry myself with panache.

And yes today I love the fact that I am tall and have broad shoulders. Guess what?  I have realized having broad shoulders makes your waste look smaller and plus I think classic dresses , blazers and button down shirts look sharper on me than anyone else because I have broad shoulders and a great height ;)
I feel all of us are unique in our own way and the best way to look beautiful is by embracing your uniqueness!!!

Miss Guilty Notes: Thank you Amanda for telling us all how amazingit is to be proud of every little part of one's ownself. You truly are gorgeous in every way. The next time someone tells a plus size girl' to go eat a salad' or a skinny girl to 'go eat a sandwich' just tell that person to drink a warm glass of "shut the hell up." #BodyPositive: All New Campaign to Embrace The Real You

Plus Size Modeling conducted a poll on its Facebook page on Dec. 18 asking, "Should toy companies start making Plus Sized Barbie dolls?" In just under two weeks, a picture of the poll has received over 40,000 likes, 5,000 comments and 2,700 shares. I was sad to read comments coming from people. While some mocked at the new barbie size, others stated that This whole plus-size Barbie thing is utterly ridiculous. Since apparently we're encouraging obesity, lets also come out with diabetes Barbie too. Comments like these made me feel really sad and why is it that we people don't believe in accepting diversity in our lives?

It's about time we tell each other and ourselves that unrealistic body standards don't define beauty! The solution to this problem can only be found in imbuing young girls with self-respect and self-esteem. Falling prey to stereotypes can be overcome if we can believe that having a positive attitude about one's body and body type is far more preferable than any fantasy girl promoted in ads and TV shows. There's nothing wrong with being plus-sized if you're a woman as long as you're healthy. I don't know why everyone is making a deal big about plus size Barbie or the idea of a curvy woman as toy, I kinda like the idea, it makes me feel like I could be Barbie too!

The only underlying message to all woman who constantly worry about not measuring up to the artificial standards of beauty being pushed by the fashion and entertainment industries is that it's about time we embrace ourselves. I love brands that seek to form a bond between women of different izes, because it's through the appreciation bad love of those different from us that we can truly come to love ourselves. Realise your beauty, power and worth today, and then go for something you thought wasn't possible for you 'yet' or 'until' you reach some other point. Loving yourself is the key to unlocking a wealth of health. Don't wait for a specific bodytype to arrive at your doorstep before you can show that you love yourself; start NOW AND SEE WHAT MAGIC AWAITS YOU!

The next time someone tells a plus size girl' to go eat a salad' or a skinny girl to 'go eat a sandwich' just tell that person to drink a warm glass of "shut the hell up." I am proud to present to you guys an all new real girls campaign, #BodyPositive. Because Hope is PINK in Colour

I love my life, the people in it and myself. When I was 13, I wanted to be like somebody, I wanted to be all skinny and to be seen as a 'hot' looking girl but not cute! Being a Punjabi woman isn't easy, meat wise. We are blessed with layers of skin, often referred to as fat but what we all need is acceptance of who we are and I admit right now, I have done that! And My today's post is dedicated to woman across who have come to terms with life by battling Breast Cancer. Life is short, but people who don't give up and battle it out live it through.

It's important to know your body, It's important to never give up and it's important to hope against hope. Breast Cancer patients across the globe have survived the hard way. Some lost their breasts, some have lost hair, skin because of chemo and some have lost hope. It's amazing being a woman, my mom who blogs on the food section on guiltybytes is my super hero. She is a neuro patient but she taught me the real meaning of Hope and Courage, both in that order.

Believe everyday that you are beautiful, that you can inspire others and encourage all women to be proactive and vigilant with their breast and ovarian health. In India we are still hesitant to talk to the women in our families about the mammograms that they should take timely, but yes, open up before it's too late. Elle Breast Cancer Campaign and Ogaan Cancer Foundation, have started a unique initiative for breast cancer awareness and has marked 18th October as the day to celebrate this battle.

Support ELLE, wear Pink this October for every person who has been in close loop with breast cancer and has a story to tell. These stories remind us that the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer awareness is more than a movement. It describes the progress we're making together to save lives and create a world with less breast cancer and more birthdays!

#SamsungMeetsFashion at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week

It's that time of the year when I am out of my home, taking pictures and 'dressing up' every single day for extended series of fashion show(s) at The Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week. This time my stint at the fashion week was an altogether different experience for a lot of reasons that I will be sharing in the upcoming posts. Day 1 I was invited by Samsung India to be a part of their new collaboration with ace designer Manish Arora. His #SamsungMeetsFashion collection for Samsung India clearly proves that things need not be only functional but can also be fashionable! To know what I am really trying to say, read on...

In my candid conversation with Manish Arora, he highlighted that he loved the original designs of Samsung refrigerators & washing machines and wanted to incorporate the same in his clothing range. I loved the emerald hues and chains and oh did I tell you guys, Manish ended up confessing that he is obsessed with chains!

Manish Arora, like a true artist explained all the why's and how's of his collection. He was extremely upbeat about the patterns that Samsung refrigerators had. From the geometric patterns to bright colors to gloss, all of this reflected in this collection. I am a big fan of sequins and frills and this collection was an absolute hit fr me.

Here I am posing in front of few of my favorite ensembles from #SamsungMeetsFashion collection. I wish I could take back home this metallic fridge and this dress (image above), it was gorgeous! And yes, I am wearing black lace dress from #Blogshop and Kate Moss embellished jacket for Mango! Shoes & accessories c/o Aldo.

For the coming months, Manish's style advice includes statement jewelry, chains, bling and a nice pop of colour in everyone's outfit of the day!

Supper Party at Pizza Hut India

Covered by Team Guiltybytes

My favorite word with the letter 'P' is Pizza and my favorite pizza place in this country is undoubtedly Pizza Hut. Pizza Hut India launched its third season of  'chef's table' in an exclusive event led by their Head Chef, Arjyo Banerjee in collaboration with Chef Luca Ciano, executive Chef from Barilla, Italy. The event had a specially created menu of the day showcasing Pizza hut's latest range of dishes inspired by the two chefs.

It was a fun session with Chefs playing off with each other as they rolled their sleeves up and got to work making pastas fresh for all of us. It started with Chef  Arjyo preparing Red-O-Wine pasta, soon to be launched in Pizza Hut smooth, creamy and tangy- ideal for Indian palette.

Chef Arjyo came back with a classic lasanga and then Chef Luca prepared scrumptious prawn pasta a perfect complement to the feast, were a variety of 6 appetizers, refreshing beverages, cheesy thin crust pizzas on traditional hand tossed bases, and an indulgent dessert. It's the dessert that gave us a high and it was a warm chocolate trio which was heavenly!

Chef Arjyo and his team have done a greta job in creating innovative recipes that will now be a a part of the pizza hut menu. The food, the warmth of people and a great dinner party was indeed a perfect occasion to celebrate the goodness of Pizza Hut. If you haven't gone there for a while, just mark it for this weekend and indulge in gourmet delights that will entice your pallet, asking for more!
Review Alert: Shuddh Desi Romance

Contributed By George Samuel

Yash Raj Films are always ready to launch new talent and this time the team hasn't failed to dissapoint with the notable newbies on the block! With the new Indian Romantic Comedy known as Shuddh Desi Romance, Vaani Kapoor in this sweet little equation has played a pleasing and a confident role in the film but it is hard to believe that such woman still exist in our society (the movie character here boss)!

Shuddh Desi Romance with its Indian translation into Pure Indian Romance basically deals with three most important aspects of everyone’s life-  love, commitment and attraction. Sushant Singh Rajput the rough and the rugged looking guy justifies the casual role of Raghuram, The-Boy-Next-Door. While Parineeti has essayed the role of Gayatri, details of which you will know below. The situation is a “win-win” for Raghu as both these charismatic women, Vaani and Parineti fall for him.

Gayatri and Raghuram, rebellious in nature are messed up with their thoughts in their head and that's what makes this movie exciting to watch. This story is an exact opposite to our usual Hindi romantic movies. It revolves around Raghuram who works as a tourist guide in the Pink City, Jaipur. The hero unlike the usual macho, rich men who are known to sweep off their heroines, is a basic chilled out, rough guy.

He meets Gayatri on his way to his own wedding, as funny as that sounds, is a big twist in the movie. After all the film itself is set apart from our normal romantic movies which are popular for “Happy Endings”. Gayatri's charm, attitude and her charisma makes him go crazy! Shuddh Desi Romance also seems to have created a record for the most number of kisses, you will forget to count after a certain point. Sushant Singh Rajput has gone a way ahead than Emran Hashmi and gets the new tag of the latest “Serial Kisser”. Life is very simple and wild between Raghuram and Gayatri all throughout the movie. As normal modern day couples, there are fights, break ups to add to the twist there is also a make up with a sweet gusto.

All credit goes to Sushant and Parineeti who have played the role beautifully without any doze of overreaction. Director Manish Sharma who previously directed Band Baaja Baarat has done a fabulous job by casting Sushant, Parineeti and Vaani and the locations too are breathing taking. A romantic comedy doesn’t necessarily mean a happy ending. Watch the film and now for yourself. It’s a must watch for all youth and adults as well. Now in  cinema near you.
