5 Ways You’re Brushing Your Hair Wrong

Whenever we’re faced with a hair problem — whether it be static, grease, limpness — we tend to switch our shampoos, styling products, even the way we blow dry or straighten our hair. But the real trick may be changing how you brush your hair. Although brushing our hair is as natural as washing our hands or pouring a cup of coffee in the morning, it’s not as straightforward as you would believe. Find out what you’re doing wrong — and change your ways.

Brushing from the root to the tip.
Starting at the root and pulling the hair down to the tip pulls the hair out of the follicle, snapping it. Instead, work your way up by starting to comb a few inches up from the bottom, taking out tangles, then moving up a few inches, removing more tangles and working up to the root in these small sections.

Brushing when wet.
The hair fibers get filled with moisture, causing them to stretch. Because the strands are now weaker, breakage is much more common. Allow your hair to air dry before detangling.

Detangling with a paddle brush.
A paddle brush is too harsh to detangle, whether dry or wet. You want to use a wide-tooth comb, but first apply a detangling product. Use a spray for fine hair, a lotion for medium thickness and a cream for thick or coarse hair. The hair will then be slippery and the comb will go right through.

Brushing too much.
If you’ve seen any old movies or TV shows, you may remember women sitting in the front of the mirror counting every brush stroke until they reached 100. However, over brushing can actually cause more breakage. Instead, focus on the quality of the brushing, not the number of strokes. Eliminate the knots and you’re done.

Causing static with your brush.
Brushing too often can also cause static from the friction. Before brushing, pit hair serum on the hair strand to control flyways. You can also rub a few drops of hair oil between your fingertips and run through the hair

#TIP to clean the brush: First remove any hair caught in the bristles and then run the brush under warm water. Add shampoo or hand wash and work it into the bristles, creating a foam. Then rinse the brush off completely and set on a towel to dry.

Story by Shannon Farrell for Daily Makeover.
DIY Chocolate Bathing Lotion You Cant Miss!

Chocolate before breakfast? Hot cocoa in the bathtub? Okay, so I am not actually talking about dessert, but this beauty secret that s almost as decadent. Whether you're soaking in the scent or applying warm shades of brown to your skin, this DIY chocolate lotion can quickly make it's way into every aspect of your morning routine. No complaints here!

Here's how to Make a Chocolate Massage Lotion before a warm bath-
The following recipe will help keep your skin smooth, silky and luscious:
1. Using a double boiler, bring water to a boil and turn off the heat.
2. Add 1/2 cup of cocoa powered to 1 cup unsalted butter to the top pan of the double boiler making sure that it does not come into contact with any water.
3. As the cocoa and butter melts and the smell of chocolate spreads, add 1/4th cup of almond oil.
4. Stir through till completely mixed and the lotion has no lumps.
5. Take off the boiler and let this mixture cool.
6. Check the lotion’s consistency. If you want it thinner, add more almond oil and heat it further. If you would like it thicker, add more cocoa + butter and let it heat. Let the lotion cool down before the next step.
7. Add a few drops of chocolate scented essential oil.

Pour into a clean glass container and close tightly with a lid. This lotion is a bit sticky or may feel a little heavy but it is perfect for skin and can be washed off easily making it ideal for home massages and romantic interludes.

Lakme Enrich Satins 131 Lipstick Review

Contributed by Tisha

Hi Girls, I am new here :)  Today I will be reviewing a lipstick  by  Lakme. Lakme is one brand that has been around for years now and most Indian women who are into makeup have had bought one Lakme product at some point in her life. I  Remember years ago when I was a preteen-ish kid,  my aunt use to have lots of Lakme enrich lipsticks and I use to drool over them :p She had a  huge collection of them.  Lakme  has a wide array ofand Lipsticks, and I really mean huge! It started with  Enrich lipsticks and now there is lip love, absoute matte, absolute creme, 9  to 5,aqua shine and various other variants.

Description: Lipstick rich color takes life in a luxuriously creamystick that brings satin to your lips. Enriched with sunscreens, vitamins and the goodness of olives, your lips will have a story to share. Indulge in a pod of beautiful shades ranging from floral pinks to shimmering peaches.
Price : Rs 225 for 4.4 g

My experience:

Shade : This is a  very pretty neutral -kinds MLBB shade that one can easily wear daily, this is kind of muted pink type nude, kind of like Colorbar bare but different and much much more sheer. Girls who are into  smokey eyes/heavy eye makeup will love this as it is perfect with smokey eyes, but for me, I like neutral eyes, nude lipsticks and everything subtle so great for me.It is one the lighter side so it will wash out very fair skintones, it is good for medium and dusky skinned ones. Do not own Mac mehr but  I think this is a dupe of Mac mehr! Both are similar nudes with pink hues.

Texture, finish& staying power: Texture is creamy and glides on very easily, but if lips are severely dry or flaked or has fine line, it accentuates those. Finish is creamy-kinds and good and if it would be a MAC lippie,I would call it cremesheen(not that I have one ;). It has a kinda strong typical ''lipstick'' smell, can't describe but  it is there in many lipsticks.Staying power is not very good,it stays for 5 hours or so without meals then it fades, If you eat with this one,you will be left with nude lips.

Pros of  Lakme Enrich Satins 131 Lipstick :

1)Beautiful MLBB shade

2)Looks like a dupe of Mac Mehr to me

3)Creamy,non drying tecxture

4)Wide array of shades to choose from

5)Affordable

Cons of Lakme Enrich Satins 131 Lipstick :

1)Staying power could have been better

2)Packaging is ok but nothing fancy and if you own alot these, you will have trouble finding (not a con for me though but for Lakme-hoarders)

3)The ''lipstick'' smell is strong and I dislike it

4)Washes out pale/very fair skintones

Rating:3.5/5

Will I recommend   Lakme Enrich Satins 131 Lipstick ? Yes I will ! :)

Spa Review: The Four Fountains Spa

If you are looking for relaxation, personal care and an experience that reminds you of what is important in life, then go to The Four Fountains Spa. I was invited to review the spa at Delhi and believe you me my beautiful followers, I had the time of my life. It was a rainy day and I was really apprehensive of doing this review and I love every bit of taking that risk and going in for it.

With work, a lot of work and never ending work I had been longing to go to a good spa to get some beauty treatment. Well yes, when we think of spa we thing of relaxation therapies but I choose it differently, I think spas can be the best places to undergo a skin and body detoxification. I am not a very big fan of spas for the very fact that you can undergo a similar treatment in a much more reasonable price at any beauty salon, but yes, The Four Fountains Spa has changed my perception.

THE AMBIANCE
The entire spa has a very warm and woody appearance, so much so that I wanted to stay back forever! The light aroma of lavender and lemon oil was surrounding the entire reception area. Once I chose my therapy, I was taken to the Energy room wherein my masseur took me through the room and the service. The spa room was very well set and lit, and disposable garments were put on the bed for a change. My massuer was very professional and she made me very comfortable in her company.

GUILTY'S EXPERIENCE
When I went to the spa at south ex, I was informed of various therapies for de-stressing, de-toxification, immunity and beauty for men and women. These therapies include over 20 body massages, body polishes, body wraps and facials. Among all the therapies I chose The coffee and cane sugar body polish. So this process is for anyone who is looking at a skin exfoliation. The body polish consisted of cane sugar and coffee grains aimed to eliminate cellulite and moisturize the skin. This process was for a good 30 minutes and throughout the scrubbing and exfoliation it was the beautiful smell of coffee that did more wonders for me. This process was followed by a body wrap of my choice, and I choose the See-Weed body wrap that was again put for 30 minutes aimed to lighten the skin and balance the skin's oiliness.

MEMBERSHIP PLAN
Make sure you opt for their membership plan which will help you get your hands on some really cool deals and discounts.

An hour and a half later I walked out from the spa room feeling and looking all shiny and new! I loved my experience here and would recommend everyone to come an experience it for themselves to know how I feel about it! And yes, I have a better idea, host a SPARTY with your favorite friends here and you will love every bit of it!

Garnier BB Cream VS Ponds BB Cream

The whole world cannot seem to get over the BB creams and rightfully so when the market is cluttered with so many, I mean soooooooo many BB creams. I read on the internet -what is BB cream and why are Asian women crazy about it?' and trust me I couldn't have agreed any less than this. Like you all know how eager and experimental I am to try out new products, this time too I tried my hands only on Ponds BB cream and Garnier BB cream. So the next thing I am going to tell to is which one is a better BB cream for the Indian skin of the two. But no, I can't list that out in the beginning only. I will try my best to keep you hooked till the end of the post.

My review comes after trying both the creams for the period of one month in total. The first half of June was dedicated to Garner BB cream while the second half was dedicated to Ponds BB cream. BB creams are like light foundation base that helps you hide the real skin texture and cake it up. The good thing is that they are light and don't feel all caked up literally in comparison to the foundation.

Garnier BB Cream
  • Good packaging
  • Very soft texture
  • Cream color is close to tan Indian skin
  • Evens out the skin tone minus the under eye area
  • Does not get patchy
  • Make the face look dewy which can work for some and may not for others
  • Moisturizing and volatile
  • Good SPF level
  • Very reasonale price- Rs 99 for 18 g, Rs 199 for 40 g
Not an appropriate product for oily/combination skin. It tends to clog the pores and thus can lead to skin breakouts. I myself have a combination type skin and it lead to uneven skin breakouts after a while. However on a dry skin, it can work like magic, another friend with a dry texture loves it for it gives her skin a moisture based dewy look. It retains the same skin shade after few minutes of application and works well with someone who intended to go all natural.

Ponds BB Cream
  • Good packaging
  • The color is lighter than the skin but spreads well
  • It takes effort to spread it evenly on the skin tone but spreads well in under eye area as well
  • Does not get patchy and has matte finish
  • Make the face glow and lasts for longer
  • Not very moisturizing
  • Higher SPF
  • Pretty Reasonable Price: 125 INR for 18g and 69 INR for 9g.
I love Ponds BB cream though it's a task to spread the cream well. It looks like a foundation, in the texture I mean and spreads well. I haven't had a single skin breakout using it and would recommend the same for someone with a similar skin-type as mine. The only thing to note here is that it's marketed as fairness cream which is what it does, it brighten your skin to a fairer tone, wont work for someone who wants to go natural.

Another most important usage of BB creams is as primer. Use it as the base for your makeup before applying the foundation. It will help the foundation spread well and will help you in a not-so-caked up look.
Hope the review is of help, do let me know your feedback or queries in the comment box below!
