5 Facts About Atif Aslam You Dint Know!

Happiest Birthday my favorite singer of all times. People like Atif are the reason why music knows no boundaries, no religions, no countries at all! So on his birthday today, Miss Guilty brings to all it's Atif fans, (just like me) five facts you didn't know about him-

1. According to Atif, if he wasn't a singer, he would have been a  cricketer!

2. Atif left Jal because he wanted his brother to be the manager of the band. On the other hand, Goher’s brother also wanted to become the manager. This created disputes and consequently Atif left the band.

3. Before the release of his 1st album “Jal Pari” Gohar Mumtaz accused Atif of copying his own album’s name. Later then, Atif Aslam smartly changed the name of his album to “Jal Pari”. Jal’s and Jal Pari’s songs shared resemblance which also created copyright problems.

4. Atif Aslam’s on-stage rock star move is “The backward bend”. Notice him next time when you attend his concert.

5. Atif, whose love life was secret for so many years before he finally tied a knot with his now wife,Sarah Bharwana, met her about 12 years ago before finally saying I do! Atif, 30, and Sara were going around for seven years but managed to keep their courtship and marriage plans a secret.

But as they say, with so many accomplishments to his credit we think Atif Aslam has more than a million reasons to celebrate his birthday every year with or without controversies. Wink wink! So here’s wishing the supremely talented Atif a very happy birthday!

How To Style A Little Black Dress with A Silk Wrap!

Love is in the air and so is my mood! I love February, I have had some of the most exciting times in this month you know ;) No no you are guessing it wrong, it's got more to do with opportunities and exciting projects...I know how important it is to dress up for V day, after all it is that one day in the year that demands looking all good and sexy, isn't it girls? So without deviating much from the topic, let me tell you all that I have created a look for a V day date using a Little Black Dress. There are so many interesting ways to style one, and here's is my take on the LBD feat. The Indian Spring, my own brand

Silk Wrap c/o The Indian Spring || Earrings c/o The Indian Spring

Elegant earrings, silk wrap is the flavor of the season and I would suggest that you guys can opt for any colored dress, try opting for a bold colored and pair it above with these two accessories only. All you need after this is a pretty bracelet or a simple clutch to complete the look. Don't be shy in trying new kind of hair or simply tying up your locks, it will look super chic. Love is a beautiful feeling and when you get to spend time with the one you adore, make most of it. By making most, I am referring to both love wise and fashion wise ;)

Hope you all have a fantastic valentines week!

Happy 2nd Birthday Guiltybytes & Hello To The Indian Spring!

I know you all are upset with my staying away from blogging spree, but trust me there has been a lot happening lately and it kept me way too occupied that I couldn't, I simply couldn't concentrate on this baby. By now you all know how I am right? I mean, I would do anything whole heartedly than dividing attention and not doing either things with all my heart. And now I think I can write a book on how to make 46 hours in a 24 hour day, especially after juggling so much in the recent past! Anyway, the big news is that on Jan 31st, 2014 Guiltybytes made it to it's second successful year! I express all my gratitude to my beautiful followers & family who have made my life, more beautiful, everyday!

Remember, when I did my first outfit post? I will be honest, I was so skeptical. It was not like one of the best photography experience, I mean I was just beginning to learn right? But then, that was a time and Now I think I have come a loooooong way! Don't believe me? well then take a look below-

That was year 2013 in few pictures, but nevertheless I think I am blessed with the best set of readers. Some of you have always encouraged me and adored my posts, and then there those honest one's who have given me the required scope for improvement. Sugar or spice, I have loved it all.

Then came brands, associating with them and accessing the fashion weeks via this blog, It was and still has been a dream come true! More love and more page views made my blog one of the top blogs on google, hell yeah! Oh and Yes, Team Guiltybytes launched #blogshop. Most of you would remember how overwhelming the response was, one day and all sold out like how. This gave wings to my entrepreneurial aspirations and then I met people, artists, local designers and more. All these artistically driven people were in a quest for a platform that could help them showcase their work and thus came the first draft of the Blogshop Version 2.0

Driven by the vision to connect or reconnect Indians to their roots, we at The Indian Spring are aiming to promote artists and their crafts & creations at a very reasonable price.  Unlike other retailers, we don’t have exorbitant profit margins, but what you are ultimately going to pay for is the artist’s 100 hours of failures & experiments, his/her piece of heart but most importantly a moment of their life! And of course we are charging you the shipping and logistic fee which is mentioned clearly on our website!

The Indian Spring Team
The Indian Spring has been my mother's undiscovered dream. She is a specialist in clothing, fabrics and embroideries and co-founding this forum with me and Divya, this is her second innings in life and we hope you all give us as much love as you have shown towards guiltybytes. At The Indian Spring, we are offering clothing, ethnic jewelry and home and living items crated by small time local artists with big dreams in their eyes. You can shop online with us and yes we are giving absolutely free shipping in India and are also shipping worldwide!

Dreams come true if you believe in the power of your dreams! This is my small summary of year 2013-2014. I promise I am going to roll many more interesting blog posts like always and be all the more regular, just like you all expect!

#BodyPositive: Super Blogger Tanvi Talks About Being Positive and Being Strong!

Sixth edition in our #BodyPositive campaign is from one of my favorite blogger Tamvi from tanvii.com

#BODYPOSITIVE

When Devina emailed me to be part of her #bodypositive campaign I couldn't decide if I am the right person to address this issue. I didn't want to sound hypocritical. I will be the first to confess that I have a love-hate-relationship with my body. Being a fat-chubby-kid I have a hard time seeing myself any other way. But with age and experience I have learnt that there are way more important things in life than, say my waist-size.

Whilst I will never compromise on the ‘joys’ of life (aka chocolate and pizza) but I am willing to sign-up for a lifelong mission to lead a healthy life. I don’t have the willpower to swear-off chocolate cake for life but I do have the dedication to make sure that I deserve it. I think taking care of my body, working out and and leading an overall healthy lifestyle has helped me gain a positive attitude towards my body. It is no more about “being thin”. It is about being healthy and strong. If I take care of my body today, there is a good chance that it will take care of me in my later years.

Having said that, there is no reason to hate your body. It is, after all, what keeps us going. Just don’t take it for granted!

Miss Guilty Notes: Thank you Tanvi for telling us all that there is absolutely no reason in this world to hate one's own body! We have all got to look beyond imperfections and yet love ourselves. You truly are gorgeous in every way. The next time someone tells a plus size girl' to go eat a salad' or a skinny girl to 'go eat a sandwich' just tell that person to drink a warm glass of "shut the hell up." I am proud to present to you guys an all new real girls campaign, #BodyPositive. If you too, have a story to share or have struggled for acceptance or you have found your calling or you just want to be featured here then please drop a line on devina@guiltybytes.com or just drop a comment, I will get back to you!

5 Food Habits You Need To Give Up For Your Pimples!

Recently I have seen a lot of breakouts on my skin which never happened before, even though I have a concealer or a BB cream to fix it up, It still needed to be treated. And then, I made a conscious effort of checking up on my diet. Here are my Top 5 food habits I have been going wrong with-

1. Caffeine
No matter how many hydrating moisturizers you buy for your face, If your body is dehydrated on the inside, nothing will help. Watch your intake of caffeine (including all those carbonated drinks and incessant coffee breaks at work).

2. Sugar. Refined, synthetic Sugar.
Sugar is my weakness and it is major problem for most of the Punjabis after-all. But then breakouts are reason enough why I would like to keep a check on my sugar intake! Instead of the synthetic sugar, go for the real; coconut sugar, honey, agave are just a few that can be great replacement.

3. Fried food
fried cheese balls, fried chicken wings, I know, I know...But the truth is that the more “cooked” it is, the harder it is for our body to digest and thus, beautiful pimples begin to show. Stress less on fired, and maybe try baked. Oh Btw I read about this awesome Baked potatoes (just like fired finger chips recipe) that I will post soon, so yeah, look for alternatives!

4. Excessive Intake of Dairy Products
This includes Cheese, Paneer, Rsgulla, Khoa and Ghee. There are a lot of growth hormones contained in dairy which have an unnatural affect on our body.

5. Trans Fats
Fats Food, Chips, Donuts and almost everything not organic! I know It's not possible to not eat anything like this, but if you have excessive breakout problem and if you really love yourself, please draw a limit otherwise those pimples will never stop, NEVER. Trans fat generally isn't good for anyone that's why it is always suggested that one must go in for exercising and working out, but if that ain't possible especially in this sardi then cut down on it's consumption, for your own-self!

For those of you who arr rolling your eyes seeing the pointers above, I too am trying to take a stand (Have already applied pointer no. 1, 3 and 4), I will suggest that you too try to rid yourself slowly of at least three things from this list. Let’s kick start a great new year!

2014: New outfit + New Project + The Big News

I am just so super happy to kick start 2014 with so many new projects and new associations and of course my first outfit post for 2014. I have been so happy to run ##Bodypositive campaign on my blog and it inspires me every single day to read how women are falling in love with themselves. I also want to to talk about how I never thought I could pull off a leather skirt look because I was so worried of how my curves would show, but here I am, embracing myself every single way, all thanks to #BP campaign ;)

2014 means alot to me and to my family. I am getting ready to launch my Blogshop version 2.0 and It will be called as The Indian Spring. I met so many beautiful artists and artisans from the interior of the country, courtesy my army background and travelling that Team Guiltybytes sat down to develop a platform that could help these great creators promote their art. On Indian Spring you will find clothes, Indian threads, embroideries, young designers with contemporary clothing and Jewllery, all of my favorite fashion subjects. I don't intend to make a million from The Indian Spring, but I'd rather follow my passion to be a happy person after all. I would love if you guys would lend me as much support as you have given me for Guiltybytes. This blog has been a daily source of inspiration in my life, I have begun to love life, myself, my friends and the whole world so much more all because of this one blog. I can't thank you guys enough for it. Well now I can stop being emotional and I hope you guys like my lace & leather skirt look with my all new Zara heels. #BodyPositive: Vidhi Talks About Self Love and Artificial Beauty Parameters!

Fourth edition in our #BodyPositive campaign is from a beautiful reader and a dear friend- Vidhi Bhatia

#BODYPOSITIVE

I believe there is no objective definition of a “good” body or a “perfect” body. As an individual when I see young girls around me who starve (literally) to lose weight so as to “fit” in their peer group, it disheartens me, for the fact to what level of idiosyncrasy and loss of self confidence have these girls gone. Social perception and the desire to be universally accepted can make people take extreme steps and they are not always for the better. Why our self esteem is so easily affected by what people think of our body? Is the world actually this shallow? Or fitting into societal norms is the only way of feeling good about ourselves? It’s shocking to see how these cliché and stereotype opinions of what is “beautiful” or what is “fashionable” prevail in the society. A society, which benchmarks our “freedom of expression” only on papers.

I have been skinny for most part of my life. Thanks to the repeated comments and taunts from my family, extended family, friends; it was quite early in my adolescent years that I had developed a boundary wall to repel all sorts of statements that came bombarding me. Yes, I was scoffed with the cliché things like “Khati nahi hai na kuch isliye”, “Do you buy clothes from kid’s section?” (I am 5’7 and I really salute people’s sense of approximation of height and weight. Good lord, not even petite, kids? Really?). Before getting into the gravity of the problem, the first thing people need to understand here is, if someone is skinny that by no way means she/he doesn’t eat or is starving or is anorexic. Trust me, of everything else, what hurt me the most was when one of my college friends told me “Are you sure you don’t have anorexia?” I was shunned into pieces. My self confidence shattered in a whiff of second. Getting accustomed to my body was not big an issue as it was to my skin. I was born with a terrible skin. And I hated it. The biggest struggle in my life was getting my skin in order. I always ran away from pictures in marriages, parties etc.  I was very envious of other girls who had a skin to die for.

I must confess it took me a lot of years to finally sink in the fact that it all incepts from your mind. People look at you, the way you want them to look at you. Not that my skin has changed much or improved till date, but what has definitely improved is my confidence. And to say the least, now when someone tells me “Oh! What are you doing for your skin?” My first response is “Exactly the same thing you are doing for your brain” Rude? No. Necessary? Yes.

A perfect body/skin is basically grounded in a mind set. Coming from a family of doctors, I surely am not in favour of being unnecessarily fat and obese, for it has a lot of bad consequences on your health. But being healthy, most importantly, should be the idea of a girl of every age. If you hear you’re fat or skinny from people around, you’re likely to believe so.  Believe what your heart says. Acceptance of your body shape and type and understanding its diversity will get you a long way with confidence and maturity.

Embrace yourself.

Miss Guilty Notes: Thank you Vidhi for telling us all that A perfect body/skin is basically grounded in a mind set. We all have got to look beyond imperfections and yet love ourselves. You truly are gorgeous in every way. Flashy Two-piece Undergarment, Worth £500,000, is made of 3kg of Gold!

A Chinese designer has unveiled an extraordinary set of underwear made entirely of gold.
The flashy garments are made of 3 kilograms of the precious metal - and would set you back more than half a million pounds.

But unfortunately for wealthy fashionistas, the two-piece has been produced as a work of art and is not for sale. Today, a model showed off the dazzling lingerie at a gold shop in Wuhan in central China's Hubei province.

She walked gracefully through the store while modelling the underwear, which took five experienced goldsmiths half a year to make.

The garments are made up of about 5million yuan's (£501,000) worth of gold, according to China News.
The unnamed woman was joined by two other models - both of whom posed with glittering gold accessories, including necklaces, a shoe and a rabbit.

And in May this year, luxury lingerie brand Rococo Dessous - made by former Victoria's Secret designer Breanna Lee - produced a collection of undergarments made from 24-Karat gold thread.
The lavish collection features gilded bras, underwear and nightgowns that all incorporate the thread, which comes from a special Swiss gold fabric.

It takes its inspiration from royal women in history, including Cleopatra, Marie Antoinette and Tsarina Alexandra - with prices ranging from $3,000 (£1,820) to $6,000 (£3,640) for a set.

#BodyPositive: Blogger Asta Talks About Self Love!

Third edition in our #BodyPositive campaign is from a beautiful fashion+ Lifestyle blogger- Asta  from Cactus and Cucumber

#BODYPOSITIVE

I think it is extremely important to love your body. The fact that it is YOUR body should be the sole reason to love it and nurture it.

As I grow older, I begin to realize that positivity and confidence are a state of mind. If you are healthy and happy, that's all it really matters. No one needs to look the certain way. We all are different. If we all looked same, we wouldn't be talking about this issue today.

I have always been called shorty, baby face all my life. When I was in my early 20s, people told me that I looked like 14. I hated that. I hated that I looked like a child.

Today, I love it. I love the fact that I am small (I am barely 5 ft tall). I mean, I can't change my body so why not embrace it. It is still an ongoing process. But, my body is worth it. I am worth it !

Miss Guilty Notes: Thank you Asta for telling us all that no matter what, we have got to embrace ourselves. You truly are gorgeous in every way. The next time someone tells a plus size girl' to go eat a salad' or a skinny girl to 'go eat a sandwich' just tell that person to drink a warm glass of "shut the hell up." #BodyPositive: Blogger Shagun Talks About Being All Skinny & Yet Loving Herself!

Second edition in our #BodyPositive campaign is from another fashion+ Lifestyle blogger- Shagun Tomar from Vogue and Vegan

#BodyPositive

It is at about the age of 15 something that a girl becomes conscious about how the society looks at her. Whether, she passes as pretty or ugly or whether she meets the so called beauty standards or not. And that´s roughly the age people started scoffing at me with statements such as- `OMG! You are so skinny!` and `Why don't you eat food; just look at you!´and much more.

These and similar tormenting comments from family friends, relatives, cheesy men and women have defined my days and nights till now. I will be only lying if I said that it never affected me. At times I would get all upset and complain to my mom and sisters. But they would always tell me that I was really lucky to be thin and that how pretty I look and that somewhere did shield my confidence. Gradually, I realized the importance of self love and also learnt how to politely answer anyone who mocked at me.

These were and are my etiquette that I never replied back and told these people how ugly they look or how short and stout they are or how flimsily they dressed-because I have always respected diversity. I understand the fact that not everyone can be perfect. I choose not to make fun of things that people don't get to choose such as size, looks and color. Evolving mentally embraces these thoughts and I so wish everyone around me becomes level-headed enough to love and respect others. And the most important thing in this process is that we accept ourselves for who we are, what size are we and what colour our skin wears. Through this campaign I want to convey to every girl to love herself and to love the fat or skinny girl next to her because beauty truly lies in imperfections! Lastly, I want to shout out and tell the entire world about how much I love my body and take great pride in it.

 xoxo
A skinny girl in love with her body.

Miss Guilty Notes: Thank you Shagun for telling us all that sizes don't matter, what matters is how you choose to accept your own-self and let everyone know that you are proud to be you.
